Styles’ Still in
A look at the Billboard forecast for fresh new tunes shows that whoever said Harry Styles had lost his fan base in the UK since switching things up in the US is sorely mistaken. It will take something untoward to stop him retaining the UK chart title with As It Was.
Styles’ latest hit, which is the first single lifted from his forthcoming third studio album Harry’s House, leads the April-May music charts. And if predictions by professionals are correct, this song will give the English pop star a fourth consecutive week in charge of the Official UK Singles Chart.
Meanwhile, it’s also noted that the tune was heavily rotated on Spotify and Apple Music.
So how would you describe this single? Well… it’s one of the most emotionally powerful songs he’s ever done. Styles sings about facing up to personal transitions with the chorus: ‘In this world it’s just us/You know it’s not the same as it was…’
It’s a daring change for Styles… and it’s unlike anything he’s done before musically. He kicked off his first two albums – Sign of the Times and Lights Up – with grand statements; but As It Was is raw and what you’d best describe as ‘vulnerable.’ It’s a ‘straight-from-the-heart’ tune that’s also an irresistible dance floor challenge.
Speaking on the recently released album Harry’s House, Billboard Music describes Style’s new style: “The 28-year-old musician is currently in a state of transformation himself, leaving a fresh bouquet of flowers at the grave of his sophomore era Fine Line and returning home to breathe life into his next artistic endeavour.”
Exciting times, indeed – and we can only imagine what the next titles on the album will sound like!
Lizzo On The Road Again
Fans can finally see Lizzo again, now that the powerhouse artiste is headed out on the road. This marks her first tour in three years and it will feature up-and-coming American rapper Latto. The special tour is set to kick off in September and run through November. Meanwhile, an album with the same name will be released in July 2022.
Lorde-Ing It Up
New Zealand-born singer Lorde is clarifying the origins of her recent viral moment. This happened after a video featuring many clips of the 25-year-old musician instructing her audience to quieten down before performing the chilling ballad Writer in the Dark from her studio album Melodrama, went viral on social media. Lorde offered an explanation to fans, stating: “That was something I did in that one song… a couple of times I wanted to sing it a cappella and/or off the microphone so people could hear me; and because I wanted to try something different.” She then took it one step further and asked the fans at a concert that followed soon after to sing as loud as they wanted, telling them to “show the trolls what they’re all about.”
