Having air purifying plants in your home is a natural and effective way to improve indoor air quality. These will help filter out toxins, reduce harmful pollutants and increase oxygen levels, to create a healthier and more comfortable environment.
Whether you live in a small apartment or spacious house, such plants can easily fit into any decor while offering tangible health benefits as well.

ENGLISH IVY This is a versatile fast-growing plant known for its ability to filter formaldehyde, benzene and xylene from the air. It’s ideal for reducing airborne pollutants in small spaces such as bedrooms and bathrooms. English ivy is easy to maintain, and thrives in both sunlight and shade. This beautiful creeper can be placed in hanging baskets or allowed to trail down from shelves.

BAMBOO PALMS These are popular because they’re low maintenance plants and excellent air purifiers. They remove harmful substances such as benzene, trichloroethylene and formaldehyde from indoor environments, and help improve respiratory health. Bamboo palms can also alleviate dry skin through the moisture they add to the air. With their elegant feathery fronds, they serve as beautiful additions to spaces with low to moderate light.

SNAKE PLANT One of the most resilient houseplants, the snake plant is known for its ability to purify the air by removing toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene and xylene. Since it can perform photosynthesis even at night, it’s an excellent oxygen producer. This hardy plant is virtually indestructible and requires little light or water. Its striking upright leaves, which often feature a bold mix of greens, make it a popular choice for modern interior decor.

SPIDER PLANT This popular air purifying plant can absorb carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and xylene in the air. It is particularly effective in spaces where air quality is compromised by appliances such as gas stoves or heating systems. The plant’s long arching leaves and small offshoots make it a visually appealing addition to any space. It can thrive in bright indirect light, is easy to care for and presents a great option for beginners.

ALOE VERA Known for its medicinal properties and air purifying capabilities as well, aloe vera can absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen at night, making it a great plant to place in bedrooms for a restful sleep. It also helps filter out harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde and benzene. Aloe vera requires minimal care and thrives in sunny spots.
