Queen Elizabeth has been advised to cut back on in-person duties.

Buckingham Palace announced yesterday that the monarch will only undertake lighter royal duties in the next two weeks, including virtual audiences. The news comes a week after the queen canceled a planned trip to Northern Ireland on short notice, upon her medical team’s recommendation to rest. It was later revealed that the monarch went to the hospital for “preliminary investigations” at the time.

“Following on from their recent advice that The Queen should rest for a few days, Her Majesty’s doctors have advised that she should continue to rest for at least the next two weeks,” reads the statement from Buckingham Palace.

Her team had also previously announced that the queen will be unable to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. She will address the delegates via a recorded video message instead, with palace sources saying that she will be doing light virtual engagements from the comfort of Windsor Castle.
