This year marks the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which the royals and the rest of the country will be celebrating in style.
Buckingham Palace shared the full line-up of plans to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years as Queen, including street parties and a special concert held at the palace that will “bring together some of the world’s biggest entertainment stars”. Members of the public will be able to apply for tickets via ballot.
The country will also celebrate with a four-day bank holiday weekend from 2 to 5 June, as the late May bank holiday will be pushed back to create a four-day weekend.

Keen bakers can get involved through a pudding competition to celebrate her reign. Dame Mary Berry and Masterchef’s Monica Galetti will judge, with the winning recipe being served at Big Jubilee Lunches during the special bank holiday weekend, reports the BBC.
It’s unconfirmed as to which events the royal will attend herself; towards the end of last year the Queen was advised by doctors to rest for two weeks, so she may well have a reduced itinerary depending on her health.
A statement from Buckingham Palace at the time read: “Following on from their recent advice that the Queen should rest for a few days, Her Majesty’s doctors have advised that she should continue to rest for at least the next two weeks.
The Queen’s official 70-year anniversary is 6 February. She will be the first British monarch in history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
